If you’re planning on buying a home with your partner, have a discussion about what each of you needs and wants from your new home purchase. This will help you narrow down what homes you want to see, and which ones don’t make the cut.
Get out there early! Avoid crowds and get a better sense of each home by arriving at the Open House earlier in the day. You’ll be fresher and the agent onsite will have more time to answer your questions then if you wait until the late afternoon.
Give each home a nickname. Once you’ve seen 4 or 5 houses, they can start to blur together. Using nicknames can help you differentiate which home has which features. If possible, take notes and photos so you can review later.
Bring water, wear comfy shoes that are easy to slip on and off, and make sure you eat something or bring snacks for in between viewings.
Be open to viewing houses that may be a bit out of your price range or ideal neighbourhood. Some homes have to be seen to appreciated!
